It was a fabulous evening filled with many generous donations, and a special conDRAGulations to the winner of the event, Chloe Viner a.k.a. I went in with the aim of making an inclusive event for the enjoyment of many and came out learning so much about the different aspects of the LGBT community. Overall, I wanted to hold this event not only to donate to LGBT Legal Services, but to raise awareness about the issues faced in the community and spread and share the gifts that are sometimes ridiculed by the wider public. With various teachers dressing up and judging, the event was saturated in the camp aesthetic that many strive for on RuPaul's Dragrace. The event itself involved eleven contestants competing in four challenges: making an outfit out of recycled materials, celebrity impersonation, a rap battle and a lip-sync battle. After contacting their team, the idea was cemented and planning for the event began. is a non-profit community-based legal service which recognises the difficulties faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex community and seeks to assist the Queensland LGBTI community to gain access to justice through the provision of legal and social welfare services. This is when I began looking into charities that could use some funding from such an event and found the organisation LGBT Legal Services, based in The Valley. I realised then that QACI, with everyone's multidisciplined talents, would excel in a drag competition. QACI Dragrace was an idea I had in grade 11, after the season 12 finale of RuPaul's Dragrace where Jaida Essence Hall took the crown home. Eddy provides us with his insight as to why he made this wonderful event come to life. On Friday 30 April Eddy Egerton, Year 12 organised and hosted QACI's first QACI Dragrace – supporting the LGBTI Legal Service Inc as part of his Community, Activity, Service (CAS) project.
